Fund Flows

“Record streak has been broken this week – equity funds (ex ETF) reporting their first outflow of -$292 million after 38 consecutive weeks of inflows. Domestic funds reporting net outflows of -$1.030 billion million and Non-domestic funds reporting net inflows totaling $738 million.” (Goldman Sachs)

“U.S. equity ETF flows have been strongly positive – trailing one-month inflow of $20.2 billion (2.3 % of assets) is near highest level since early August – short term negative sign. Like leveraged ETF investors, U.S. equity ETF investors tend to be poor market timers. Global equity mutual funds and ETFs issued $24.7 bn in September – fourth-highest inflow on record. Outflows from bond funds slowed dramatically last month. Bond MFs and ETFs redeemed $6.5 billion, the smallest outflow in four months.” (TrimTabs)
